A8 Important Term 3 Updates

Dear A8 families & community,

A8 now supports over 300 members a month, employs one of Brisbane's most experienced and sought after multi-disciplinary therapy teams, and has the largest inclusive program offering in QLD. This has all been possible because you believe in us and continue to feed us with energy, ideas, and constructive feedback. We have assisted countless families in transitioning to and navigating the NDIS, and if you are reading this and are wanting support in these areas, please don't hesitate to reach out.

As some of you may have seen on 1 July 2019 the NDIS released a new price guide which introduced some important policy and administrative changes. To keep it as brief as possible, A8 will adopt these changes in the following ways from Monday 15 July 2019 onwards:

  1. Updated A8 Price Guide for therapists (including travel appointments & assessments) and group programs can be found here: https://www.activeeight.com.au/priceguide. We have included some helpful new line item codes to assist self-managed families and plan managers in confidently claiming under the right categories – you will notice group programs are still considerably less than the maximum hourly rates set by NDIS. Also, note that your NDIS plan/budget will have automatically increased to account for the new price guide. At our core, A8 is a not-for-profit dedicated to enabling all young people to activate life's full potential. If you aren't eligible for NDIS, can't afford the NDIS Price Guide rates out-of-pocket, or are currently transitioning to the NDIS scheme and require A8's support, we will work with you to design a support package to ensure our mission becomes your reality.

  2. As illustrated in the A8 Price Guide, A8 will now charge a 30min travel fee instead of 20min. The NDIS encourages providers to charge up to 60min (including return travel to our business address), however, A8 won't be adopting this.

  3. The NDIS encourages providers to charge 90% of the session rate where less than 48-hours’ cancellation notice is given. A8 will not be strictly enforcing this, and instead opting to implement a tiered Cancellation Policy:

    • Where possible we ask families provide 48-hours’ notice so we can fill the cancelled time with a member from our waitlist. To help families we continue to invest in our opt-out appointment reminder messaging service (text/email), which are now sent three days prior to the appointment. We just kindly ask that you think of A8 as a specialised paediatric service and we require at least 48 hours’ notice to be able to fill cancelled appointment slots.

    • Short-notice cancellations on the day before or the day of the appointment due sickness or behaviours will be invoiced at 50% of the session rate. This flu season has is a particularly challenging time for everyone.

    • No show (forgotten appointments) will be invoiced at 90% of the session rate.

  4. It is compulsory for A8 members with an NDIS package to complete our Service Agreement (found here: https://www.activeeight.com.au/serviceagreement) and Non-NDIS members to complete our Consent to Therapy Form (found here: https://www.activeeight.com.au/therapyconsent) prior to attending your next appointment/session if you haven’t already - including members just attending group programs. This is so we have a record of your NDIS number, goals, plan start & end date, preferred invoicing method, and to verify that you have sighted and agreed to our terms and conditions for providing NDIS supports. Failing to complete A8's service agreement may mean we won't be able to ethically provide supports, as well as, compromising our reporting and auditing standards. We thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out this form.

As always, if would like to provide any feedback please don’t hesitate to call, email or visit us at the Toowong hub.

Kind regards,
Zachary Fook
