Where therapy meets play

Block Therapy at Active Eight

Block Therapy is a bit like LEGO, those enduringly popular bricks that enable kids (and adults!) to build almost anything.

We love LEGO. The name means ‘I play well’ in Danish (the language of its original creator). Apparently, it’s also Latin for ‘I put it together’. It is a popular children’s toy that we are utilising to create accessible and fun group therapy.

Block Therapy shares many of LEGO’s characteristics like individual design and versatility, similar to Active Eight’s therapy sessions. We encourage individuality and problem-solving, promoting confidence and joy in your child through play.

It’s tailored to your child’s needs and your family’s goals. You might focus on one type of therapy. You might have two or three therapies in back-to-back sessions. Or you might have joint therapy sessions.

Why your child might need Block Therapy

Sometimes, we learn well through regular weekly sessions. At other times, a higher frequency program suits better.

Similar to individual therapy sessions, block therapy enables your child to learn new skills or behaviours through regular repetition. The high frequency of these sessions can support building momentum in your child’s therapy journey.

Some of Active Eight’s fabulous features that you can enjoy in block therapy:

Increased frequency

Supports recalibration of muscle memory and behaviours

Creates ideal conditions for therapy

Lays the foundation for new skills and behaviour patterns

Our therapies look different for each family because they are designed around each child or teen’s unique needs.

What therapies can be included in Block Therapy?

Block Therapy allows you to choose up to three therapies from the list below, combining them in whichever way best suits your child’s needs. Active Eight will work with you to design your child’s blocks in a way that helps them work towards their goals.
